Introduction to the Program

The AIPIL(Cosmopolitan) – YIN IDEAS GRANT project is a six-month intensive training program designed to equip 1,000 unemployed youth with advanced skills in software development, artificial intelligence, and creative digital arts. Our goal is to provide you with the knowledge and tools necessary to thrive in the modern workforce and contribute meaningfully to the digital economy.

COURSES OFFERED

Advanced Software Development

This course focuses on equipping you with the skills needed to develop complex software systems. Topics include advanced programming techniques, software architecture, database management, and software project management. By the end of this course, you will be proficient in creating scalable, high-performance software solutions.

Artificial Intelligence (AI)

The AI course covers the fundamentals and advanced concepts of artificial intelligence, including machine learning, natural language processing, and computer vision. You will learn how to design, implement, and deploy AI-driven applications, preparing you for a career in one of the fastest-growing fields in technology.

Advanced Creative Skills

This course is designed for those interested in creative digital arts. You will learn advanced techniques in image processing using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, video editing, and other creative tools. The course also covers the principles of design, animation, and multimedia production, helping you to master the skills needed to excel in the creative industry.

TRAINEE RESPONSIBILITIES

As a student in the AIPIL(Cosmopolitan) – YIN IDEAS GRANT project, you are expected to:

Maintain Decent Appearance: Follow the dress code to contribute to a respectful and professional learning environment.

Commit to the Learning Process: Actively engage in all classes, assignments, and projects.

Respect Others: Treat fellow students, instructors, and staff with respect and dignity.

Adhere to the Code of Conduct: Follow the rules and guidelines set out in this handbook.

Uphold Academic Integrity: Ensure all work submitted is your own and cite sources where appropriate.

Code of Conduct

Introduction

The AIPIL(Cosmopolitan) – YIN IDEAS GRANT project is dedicated to fostering a positive, respectful, and inclusive learning environment. This Code of Conduct outlines the expectations and standards of behavior required from all trainees (hereinafter referred to as “students”) enrolled in the project. Adherence to this Code is essential to ensure the success and integrity of the program.

Purpose

The purpose of this Code of Conduct is to:

  • Establish clear expectations for student behavior.
  • Promote respect, fairness, and safety within the learning community.
  • Ensure that all students can engage in the learning process without disruption.
  • Protect the reputation and integrity of the AIPIL(Cosmopolitan) – YIN IDEAS GRANT project.

Scope

This Code of Conduct applies to:

  • All students participating in the AIPIL(Cosmopolitan) – YIN IDEAS GRANT project.
  • All activities related to the program, including online and in-person classes, workshops, events, and communications.

General Behavioral Expectations

Respect for Others
  • Diversity and Inclusion: Students are expected to respect the diversity of the learning community, including differences in culture, race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, age, and ability. Discriminatory behavior, harassment, or hate speech of any kind will not be tolerated.
  • Civility: Students must communicate with instructors, peers, and staff in a respectful and courteous manner. This includes refraining from using offensive language, making derogatory comments, or engaging in personal attacks.
  • Collaboration: Students should engage in collaborative learning with their peers, share ideas openly, and support each other’s academic growth.
Academic Integrity
  • Honesty: Students are expected to complete their work honestly and without cheating, plagiarism, or other forms of academic dishonesty. This includes properly citing sources, not using unauthorized resources during assessments, and not submitting work that is not their own.
  • Originality: All assignments, projects, and exams must reflect the student’s own effort and understanding. Group work should accurately represent the contributions of all members.
  • Accountability: Students are responsible for their own learning and must take initiative in seeking help or clarification when needed. They should submit assignments on time and adhere to deadlines.
Attendance and Participation
  • Punctuality: Students are expected to attend all scheduled classes, workshops, and events on time. If a student is unable to attend, they must notify the instructor or program coordinator in advance.
  • Engagement: Active participation in class discussions, activities, and group work is essential. Students should be prepared for each session by completing assigned readings and tasks beforehand.
  • Attendance Policy: Consistent attendance is required for the successful completion of the program. Repeated absences without valid reasons may result in disciplinary action, including removal from the program.
Use of Resources
  • Proper Use: Students must use program resources, including facilities, equipment, and materials, responsibly and only for their intended purposes. Misuse of resources, such as damaging equipment or using it for personal gain, is prohibited.
  • Digital Etiquette: When participating in online classes or using digital platforms, students should maintain professionalism. This includes keeping their cameras on (where applicable), muting microphones when not speaking, and using appropriate virtual backgrounds.
  • Confidentiality: Students must respect the confidentiality of sensitive information shared during the program. This includes not sharing or disclosing personal data of other students, staff, or stakeholders without consent.

Prohibited Conduct

Harassment and Discrimination
  • Zero Tolerance: The program has a zero-tolerance policy for any form of harassment, bullying, or discrimination. This includes but is not limited to sexual harassment, racial discrimination, and any behavior that creates a hostile or intimidating environment.
  • Reporting: Students are encouraged to report any incidents of harassment or discrimination to the program coordinator or designated authority. All reports will be handled with confidentiality and prompt action will be taken.
Substance Abuse
  • Prohibition: The use, possession, or distribution of illegal drugs, alcohol, or other controlled substances is strictly prohibited during any program-related activities.
  • Consequences: Any violation of this policy will result in immediate disciplinary action, which may include suspension or expulsion from the program and referral to law enforcement authorities.
Violence and Threatening Behavior
  • Prohibition of Violence: Any form of physical violence, threats, or intimidation against fellow students, staff, or instructors will not be tolerated.
  • Weapons: The possession or use of weapons or dangerous items on program premises or during program activities is strictly prohibited.
  • Consequences: Violations of this policy will result in severe disciplinary action, including potential expulsion from the program and legal consequences.
Academic Misconduct
  • Plagiarism: The act of presenting someone else’s work, ideas, or words as one’s own without proper attribution is considered plagiarism and is strictly prohibited.
  • Cheating: Cheating during exams, assignments, or any form of assessment is prohibited. This includes using unauthorized materials, copying from others, or providing answers to others.
  • Collusion: Unauthorized collaboration with others on assignments intended to be completed individually is prohibited.

Disciplinary Procedures

Reporting Violations
  • Confidentiality: Any violations of this Code of Conduct should be reported to the program coordinator or a designated authority. Reports will be treated confidentially, and the identity of the reporter will be protected.
  • Investigation: Upon receiving a report of misconduct, an investigation will be conducted to determine the facts and appropriate action. Both the complainant and the accused will have the opportunity to provide their account of the events.
Disciplinary Actions

The following disciplinary actions may be taken based on the severity and nature of the violation:

  • Warning: A formal warning may be issued for minor infractions, with the understanding that further violations will result in more severe consequences.
  • Probation: The student may be placed on probation, during which their behavior will be closely monitored. Any further violations during this period may lead to expulsion.
  • Suspension: The student may be temporarily suspended from the program, losing access to classes, resources, and activities for a specified period.
  • Expulsion: For severe or repeated violations, the student may be expelled from the program permanently.
  • Legal Action: In cases involving criminal behavior, such as violence or substance abuse, the matter may be referred to law enforcement for further action.

Appeals Process

Right to Appeal

Students have the right to appeal any disciplinary action taken against them. Appeals must be submitted in writing to the program director within [insert period, e.g., 7 days] of receiving the disciplinary decision.

Appeal Review

The appeal will be reviewed by an impartial committee or designated authority. The student will have the opportunity to present their case, and the committee may request additional information or conduct further investigations.

Final Decision

The committee’s decision on the appeal will be final and communicated to the student in writing. The decision may uphold, modify, or overturn the original disciplinary action.

Support and Resources

Counseling and Support Services

The program provides access to counseling and support services for students who may be facing personal or academic challenges. Students are encouraged to seek help if they are struggling with any aspect of the program or their personal well-being.

Academic Support

Academic support, including tutoring, study groups, and additional resources, is available to help students succeed in the program. Students should take advantage of these resources if they are having difficulty with course material.

Reporting and Whistleblower Protection

Students who report violations of this Code of Conduct are protected from retaliation. The program is committed to ensuring that all reports are handled fairly and without adverse consequences for the reporter.

Review and Updates

 Periodic Review

This Code of Conduct will be reviewed periodically to ensure it remains relevant and effective. Updates will be made as necessary to address new challenges or changes in the program.

Communication of Updates

Any updates to the Code of Conduct will be communicated to all students, and the latest version will be made available through official program channels.

Acknowledgment

All students are required to read and acknowledge their understanding of this Code of Conduct upon enrollment in the program. By signing the acknowledgment form, students agree to abide by the rules and expectations outlined in this document.

Dress Code and Appearance

As part of our commitment to maintaining a professional and respectful learning environment, all students are required to adhere to the following dress code:

  • Decent and Appropriate Attire: Students should dress in a manner that is respectful, modest, and appropriate for an educational setting. Clothing should not be excessively revealing or offensive.
  • Professional Appearance: While casual wear is allowed, it should be neat and clean. Avoid wearing clothing with inappropriate language, graphics, or images.
  • Cultural Sensitivity: Be mindful of cultural norms and practices in your dress, ensuring that your attire is respectful to others’ beliefs and customs.
  • Hygiene: Maintain good personal hygiene to ensure a comfortable environment for everyone.

Failure to adhere to the dress code may result in being asked to change, and repeated violations may lead to disciplinary action.

Academic Policies

Grading System

Grades will be assigned based on your performance in assignments, projects, exams, and participation. Detailed grading criteria will be provided for each course.

Assignment Submission

All assignments must be submitted by the specified deadlines. Late submissions may result in grade penalties unless prior arrangements have been made with the instructor.

Exam Policies

Exams are a critical part of the assessment process. Ensure that you arrive on time and are well-prepared. Cheating during exams will not be tolerated and will result in severe penalties.
